Clontarf Community Games - Report

The following report has been provided by the organisers of the Community Games in Clontarf.

The first 'Clontarf' finals event for the Community Games - the Table Quiz -  took place last Friday 9th March.

Over 50 children from 5th, 6th classes and 1st year took part in St. Anthony's Hall and a great time was had by all. Spot prizes were awarded during the evening, with lots of laughs during the 'Heads or Tails' game in particular where the lucky winner received a voucher that had been very kindly donated by Casa Pasta.

The quiz was a close call with the winners just 7 points ahead in the end, and 2nd and 3rd places separated by only half a point! Medals were awarded to all 3 teams. We'd like to say a big thank you to Casa Pasta and Moloughneys for giving us vouchers (Moloughneys will be used at our next event!), to Spar Vernon Ave. for the crisps…

Clontarf Community Games

After a lengthy absence, the Community Games are coming back to Clontarf. Here’s a brief run down on what’s happened so far.

Last year there was an art competition, with the help of the primary schools, to design a logo for the games. The winning entry – the wonderful ‘Vinny the Viking’ - was drawn by Sadhbh O’Sullivan from Belgrove Senior Girls school.  Prizes and medals were awarded to the winner and 3 runners-up in their schools.

This year there has been 2 events so far, with more to come shortly. Children must live in Clontarf to participate – this rule is enforced at HSE Community Games level.

Table Quiz: The Clontarf Heat will be held this Fri. 9th March: entries need to be in by Thursday.

Entrants must be under 14, so generally from 5th, 6th classes and 1st years. Anyone can enter with their friends –…

Belgrove Junior Boys School are holding their Annual Table Quiz on Friday 2nd March in Clontarf Castle.  All proceeds from the quiz will be used for the school's ongoing funding requirements.

They would be delighted to hear from anyone wishing to support them.  Sponsorship can take the form of sponsoring a round of the quiz for €100, or donating a prize for the raffle, or booking a table at the quiz.

As well as being an important fundraiser this is also a very popular social night, with great prizes to be won, so make sure to book your table early.
